University President William P. Leahy, S.J., celebrated the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on September 10 at noon in the Upper Church of St. Ignatius. Haub Vice President for Mission and Ministry Jack Butler, S.J., concelebrated; Fr. Leahy was homilist. The Mass also was livestreamed on Boston College YouTube; view the video below.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit, a tradition for the opening of the school year at Jesuit institutions dating back to the Middle Ages, is organized by the Office of Campus Ministry.

"As a Jesuit, Catholic university, prayer is vitally important to the life of Boston College and perhaps even more so this academic year, given what is happening in our country and in our world, said Associate Vice President and Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Anthony Penna, calling the Mass an important opportunity "to come together to ask Gods blessings on everything we will do throughout this new year."
