Student Success

Messina College is committed to helping students meet the challenges and opportunities of post-secondary studies through a range of general and course-based academic support services, including mentoring and tutoring.

Mentorship

  • Students will be paired with a mentor at orientation to help them navigate the associate’s degree journey.
  • Messina residence halls will interact on a regular basis with a sister residence hall on the Chestnut Hill campus.

Tutoring

  • Students can book subject-specific tutoring sessions on either the Brookline campus or the Connors Family Learning Center on the Chestnut Hill campus.
  • The English department offers 1:1 tutoring sessions in its Writing Center.
  • The Math department offers drop-in tutoring sessions throughout the academic year.

Career Services

Students will work with the Messina College Assistant Director, Career Education to identify potential internships that will help them build valuable career skills. 

Throughout their two years on the Brookline campus, students will have access to professional skills building workshops including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and the development of the soft skills employers are looking for in candidates.

Additional support that is provided throughout each stage of the student’s job search includes:

  • Individualized coaching with a dedicated career coach to help students define their professional goals, develop a job search plan, and prepare high-quality job search materials.
  • Online resources and platforms to support the job search, connect with alumni, practice interviews, and research career fields and organizations.
  • Career search workshops, events, and programs to help students explore and achieve their goals.

Laptops

Each Messina College student will receive a free laptop at orientation. The laptops will be provisioned with all of the required software for their courses.

Textbooks

Messina College will provide every enrolled student with access to all required materials on or before the first day of class. The Campus Bookstore gets everything ready for you. All you need to do is check your 51²è¹Ý email for how to access your course materials for the term. In most cases, the required materials will be digital.
