Julia DeVoy's聽research and teaching has concentrated on the鈥� relationship of social class 鈥巚ariables to the human lifespan, with a focus 鈥巓n social mobility 鈥巃mong low-鈥巌ncome 鈥巊lobal citizens that examines 鈥巔ersonal aspects, as well as 鈥巈cological contexts鈥� such as 鈥巉amily, faith, 鈥巜orkplace, 鈥巆ommunity and 鈥巈ducational 鈥巗ettings, which facilitate or constrain development. She is currently investigating ways in which economically disempowered individuals鈥� develop dual 鈥巆lass-based 鈥巔sychological identities in order to transition to elevated economic levels 鈥巜hile maintaining healthy 鈥巈motional鈥� well-being and relational support.鈥�

Devoy has been involved nationally and internationally in social impact, social entrepreneur businesses and social justice work since 1989. DeVoy is co-author of several articles on social class mobility, career development and work-based psychology including, among them: 鈥淭he Psychology of Working: A New Framework for Counseling Practice and Public Policy鈥� (Career Development Quarterly); 鈥淪elf-concept鈥� (Encyclopedia of Career Development); 鈥淨ualitative Research in Career Development: Exploring the Center and Margins of Discourse About Careers and Working鈥� (Journal of Career Assessment). She was selected as the Global Opportunities and Threats: Oxford (GOTO) awardee for best submission of an action oriented project geared towards addressing the complex issue of fresh water scarcity facing the world today.聽
