Dr. Vanessa Prosper is a trilingual Canadian native of Haitian descent who grew up in Montreal, Quebec. She currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts and is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience working with racially and ethnically diverse children, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as Haitian immigrants, youth with autism spectrum disorders, and youth with congenital HIV diagnosis. Dr. Prosper graduated from Boston College's doctoral program in counseling psychology and completed a two-year school-based clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston's Children's Hospital Neighborhood Partnerships Program. Dr. Prosper is presently engaged in a three-pronged career where she provides school-based clinical services as clinical coordinator at Boston Latin school, sees patients within her private practice, all while having taught a complement of graduate classes as an adjunct professor at Boston College, Lesley University, and William James College and now as part-time Associate Professor of the Practice within the Counseling Psychology Department of Boston College. Additionally, over the years, Dr. Prosper has developed and conducted a multitude of local, national, and international presentations focused on raising mental health awareness, demystifying mental health stigma, child and adolescent mental health, and educating others on cultural competency, cultural manifestations of mental health in Haitian immigrants, mental health issues faced by North American born children of immigrants, how to best support North American born children of immigrants and their families in schools, racial trauma, and anti-racist approaches to clinical work.
