The Profile of the Professionals is a research project of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship that examines the roles, responsibilities, development, and compensation of corporate citizenship professionals. Its findings provide insight into how professionals at all levels assess the skills they need to be effective in their roles and what they perceive as the greatest challenges they must overcome.

Executive Summary

Key findings:

Two-thirds of respondents report that they have ESG reporting responsibilities, and more than one-quarter of overall respondents report that they include ESG reporting as one of their top three corporate citizenship responsibilities.
More than one-half of respondents report that their responsibilities include strategy, execution, and/or communication for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
The median annual base salary for U.S. respondents has increased from $104,000 in 2020 to $130,000 in the current study—a 25% increase.
There is a 10% increase in the number of U.S. respondents who report an annual base
salary of $100,000 or more
, from 70% in 2022 to 77% in the current study
