Testing Your Blind Spots
On December 7, the Carroll School of Management held its third forum on âinclusive leadership,â part of a year-long series. The latest event took a more personal look at blind spots and unconscious bias (addressed also during the second forum). âWeâre always going to have blind spots. Weâre not perfect. Weâre human,â said diversity expert Carol Fulp, addingââItâs our responsibility to be monitoring those blindspots.â Attendees shared examples of blind spots they had experienced along lines of race, age, and socioeconomic class. Fulp encouraged listeners to  by assessing âwhat I did well, how I made an impact, and what I would have done differentlyâ to combat bias.
