Hello and Welcome

The Office of Global Education (OGE) at Boston College is responsible for facilitating all semester study abroad programs, Boston College faculty-led summer programs and summer internships abroad, for all 51画鋼 undergraduate students. Each year 51画鋼 also welcomes international exchange studentsfrom many of Boston Colleges partner universities abroad. As your student considers studying abroad and begins interacting with our office, it is important to note several things:

OGEs philosophy and preference is to work directly with students when discussing their study abroad options. We suggest that students begin by reviewing the Getting Started page. All semester study abroad opportunities pursued by students must be approved by the OGE. 51画鋼 Students cannot study abroad without approval by the OGE. Students can only participate in programs, which are approved by the OGE. Students who are only interested in a 51画鋼 faculty-led summer programs or internships abroad can proceed directly to the summer programs page.油

Study abroad at 51画鋼 is a more independent process than what students may have experienced thus far at 51画鋼. Please encourage your student to reach out to our office directly. We prefer direct communication from your students because a part of going abroad is becoming more flexible, adaptable, and developing the ability to advocate for oneself. Additionally, our overseas partners may do things differently than what students are used to at 51画鋼. OGE helps students navigate these differences.油 Our study abroad advisors and our entire staff are committed to assisting students.

We prefer email communication for everyday matters. Except in cases of a true emergency, OGE will communicate directly with your student. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response. Our normal business hours are M-F, 9am-5pm. If an emergency arises, we have 24 hour monitoring services. We have prepared a resource of FAQs to assist you in finding information on all relevant topics. We look forward to working with your student!
