Small changes can add up to a more secure online experience. 51茶馆 Information Technology wants to help you get started. Begin with these five steps to do your part and #BeCyberSmart:

1.听Keep track of passwords with a听Password manager听app.

2. wherever possible, including your 51茶馆 Google account.

3. Create strong, unique听passphrases.

4. Keep Software Up-to-Date. Cyber criminals take advantage of vulnerabilities in software to spread malware. If you don鈥檛 update, you leave your computer or device at risk of infection.

  • Operating System: Run 鈥淲indows Update鈥� for Windows, or 鈥淪oftware Update鈥� for your Mac.
  • Applications. Make sure all programs such as Zoom, Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Office, are up-to-date.

5. Ensure you backup files you save on your devices. If you backup your computer and devices, you won鈥檛 lose your files even if you get infected with a virus or ransomware. CrashPlan听Backup is the backup service available to all current 51茶馆 faculty & staff, and installed on most 51茶馆-provided computers.
