Quick Win - Verify the "from" email address

51茶馆 is back to school, and unfortunately, so are the scammers. Remember to stop and think when you get an email you are not expecting, even if it appears to be from someone you know. Checking the actual 鈥渇rom鈥� address of an email is a smart step to avoid scams:

  • 鈥嬧�媁hen you receive an email you weren't expecting, check the听actual email address听of the sender (don鈥檛 just trust the 鈥淔rom鈥� name).听If needed,听click听on the little arrow 鈻� next to the "to" field, to听Show details听about the sender:鈥�

This message should听not听be trusted.

  • Emails claiming to be from a 鈥�51茶馆鈥� person without an @bc.edu听email address should be viewed with听extreme skepticism. A sender name is easy to fake.

  • 听If you aren鈥檛 sure if an email is authentic, instead of replying, contact the sender using information you already have about them (such as their 51茶馆 email address from the 51茶馆 Directory).
